Outreach

Our team regularly meets with numerous stakeholders and communities across Colorado – especially those in high-fire treat areas – to connect with members of the public, local government and first responders to understand the unique needs of each community. Our outreach efforts also includes collaboration and benchmarking with the Electric Power Research Institute, Edison Electric Institute, national labs and our neighboring utilities to share lessons learned and best practices. Community Meetings

To share our plan, the team meets regularly with communities across Colorado, especially high-fire threat communities in the wildland-urban interface in mountain communities and front range areas with increased population living among more densely forested areas. The team hosts and attends community meetings and works with local governments to describe program activities and explain why customers are seeing additional Xcel Energy crews in their area. Watch our 2021 virtual town hall presentation on YouTube. We consider first responders and fire departments to be key stakeholders, from whom we solicit feedback and share knowledge.

Keeping You Informed

When wildfire mitigation work is proposed and in process, we will communicate with customers in the affected area via the U.S. Postal Service, email, phone and/or social media. We also use Xcel Energy’s social media channels to remind Colorado residents of what they can do to reduce the risk of wildfire damage to their homes, as well as how to prepare for outages or wildfire evacuations in their area.
